Dare to Imagine!

Imagine a no-test, no-grade collegial academy for adults.
Imagine a blending of knowledge and experience; teacher and student growing together.
Imagine that others believe as you do:  in life-long learning and that one can and should be open to new ideas,
     decisions, skills and behaviors.
Now imagine that opportunity could exist for you.

Guess what. It does!

The Adult Center for Enrichment (A.C.E.) of Livingston County

...was established with you in mind:  to bring together teacher and student in a collegial and enriching environment.  To seek out instructors to offer a range of classes.  To seek out students with a range of experience.  And to provide a growth opportunity for both.

Formatted as four to eight week sessions with a student registration fee of $30 per class, (with a small stipend available to instructors) currently classes are offered at the Lansing Community College Howell Campus on Thursdays and Fridays.

Up and running in the Summer of 2006, with a catalog of six classes and enrollment of 40 students, it was followed by a Fall session with 55 students.

Going forward, the winter schedule has been expanded to 8 classes.
Going forward, the schedule will be expanded to offer Saturday classes.
Going forward, the plan is to expand host sites across the county.
Going forward, the hope is to expand the instructor base to anyone with a knowledge base and a desire to share it.  Instructors are
welcome from the current educational community, professionals, or simply those with life-expereience knowledge to share in
     a collegiate setting.
Going forward, the program will be what this community wants it to be.
Going forward, this program will be what you make it.
Going forward, please consider taking a role as a participant:  as an instructor/facilitator, or as a student/facilitator.

Initiated as a collaborative effort between Lansing Community College faculty and staff and your Livingston County senior centers, A.C.E. has taken on a life of its own.  A.C.E. is being incorporated as a 501(c)3 with a volunteer board, with a goal to spread the adult collegial opportunity across the county.  Join the movement!
