Memoir Writing

Comparing the World’s Religions

Study the differences in basic beliefs of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.  Discussion will involve opportunities and obstacles each religion presents in promoting world harmony.

Spin and the November Election

Are you ready to vote for the next President of the U.S?  This course will help you navigate our political world.  Is what you are being told the truth?  A lie? Or, is it just Spin?  Major emphasis of spin’s influence on the way we think and the decisions we make.

Basic Drawing

The use of line, value, shape and perspective will be demonstrated and principles for drawing in a clear, concise manner will be provided.  Materials needed: paper, pencils and eraser.  Rembrandts need not apply.

Beginning/Intermediate Spanish

Using Your Digital Camera

You will learn how to upload pictures from camera to computer, what can be done with them including sizing, cropping, adjusting and building collages for a slide show.  Class is limited to 10, knowledge of MS Word required.

Learning Microsoft PowerPoint

Class is for teachers, students, salespeople, lawyers, or others who give presentations to individuals or groups.  Learn to create professional presentations  with bulleted lists, pictures, sounds, video clips and animation.  Basic computer experience is required.

The Art of Puccini

Learn of the life, times and music of Giacomo Puccini with emphasis on and the presentation of his most beloved opera, Madam Butterfly.  Other operas highlighted include Tosca, LaBoheme, and Manon Lescaut as well as performers noted for their roles.

Gardening Through the Seasons

Enjoy designing with perennials and shrubs for form, texture and color.  Identify/appreciate properties of various plants and where they grow best.

So What’s Normal Anyway? Stress Management in a Context of Personality

What is stress?  What is personality?  Dealing with difficult people and situations; techniques for gaining control over each.  How to react outside of the context of your personality.

Take courses as a SERIES, or just take 1.  On Thursdays starting September 25, and for the next 6 weeks, at 1-3 pm the Adult Center for Enrichment will offer (1) time courses, with  each course 2 hours in length.  Take all six (6) for $30.00/Take any one (or more) $10.00 ea.  Choose from the following delights:

 

The Magic of Renewable Energy

Mr. Cryderman works in the field as a consultant.  How will renewables affect you and me?  You will learn to understand the benefits, costs and payback.  Looks at wind, solar, geothermal, hydro and bio-mass.

Ms. Brennan-Nelson is a published author of children’s books and will discuss everything you ever want to know about writing and publishing of children’s books.

Aerial Photography of WW2

Mr. Zemper was a WW2 photographer for the U.S. army. His pictures have been used in the PBS series called “The War.” Hear the man who took the pictures relate his experience in capturing some of the moments on film for future generations.

Aircraft of WW2 and Beyond

Learn about the WW2 war birds and how they molded the aircraft of the future.  See scaled and radio controlled models.   Mr. Novack’s scaled plans are used by enthusiasts worldwide.

Yoga, the Art of Mental Meditation

Learn to understand the philosophy and process for relaxation and meditation.  This is not a workout course, it defines the philosophical basis and strengths that make Yoga work.

Learn why wines are named as they are, what to look for in a wine, and what wines to pair with given foods…not only that, you can taste for yourself.
